Day 127: Half Day

Today was an early out, with 35 minute periods. In algebra I introduced multiplying polynomials. We made it up to (x+3)(x+2) and I made ’em struggle by plugging values into x to test and make sure their expansion was correct. Most periods didn’t make it to the correct expansion.

Geometry played around with inclinometers for angles of elevation/depression. I gave them a couple challenge problems, which I found here. The Big Ben problem threw students for a loop, they are pretty uncomfortable assigning a variable to an unknown still so two in one problem isn’t easy for them. Tomorrow we will talk about the problems, I tried my best to keep my distance and just let them work today.
