Algebra played the same dice games I wrote about on Day 151 for geometry a month or so ago. There was an assembly today so I didn’t have geometry.
Algebra has been spending a lot of time on factoring GCF. Today, they topped off their practice with a round of factoring/distributing BINGO.
Earlier this year, I wrote a post about how BINGO works, check that out here.
I regret using multiple variables here, a few students picked up on just matching variables and coefficients. Maybe that’s a good thing they picked up on it though, it made their lives a whole lot easier. If students won I gave ’em a homework pass. By the end of the period they were begging for just one more number. Fun.
Today was the last day of classes before spring break, I gave concept tests in both algebra and geometry.
After the tests students played Cross Nim. This has become my favorite game; it can be as simple or complex as students choose. A majority of students were thinking 3 to 4 steps ahead, which is great in developing a sense of reasoning!
I am off to a foreign land for spring break, see y’all in a week!
I gave concept tests in both Algebra and Geometry. After Algebra completed their tests I introduced them to Cross Nim.
Students loved this. A bunch of great games I use come from this packet.
Geometry played Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe. I am looking forward to a little break then getting back into more blogging action!
Have a happy thanksgiving!
